Located on Collier Boulevard on the way to Marco Island, Fiddler's Creek is an award-winning residential community in Naples, Florida. To achieve Blue Zones Project recognition, Fiddler's Creek implemented a variety of best practices designed to enhance longevity, such as becoming a smoke-free environment, adding bike racks, and promoting volunteer opportunities for its members. The community also launched a Walking Moai, a small group that plans regular walks together to stay healthy and build social bonds.

Some of the well-being initiatives FineMark implemented to become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ Worksite, included hosting potluck and walking Moais® groups of the staff that got together on a regular basis to encourage healthy eating and natural movement. In addition, they encouraged micro-breaks for the staff to stretch or move each hour, created plant-based snacks and menu options for clients who come into the bank, and encouraged employees to use the stairwell instead of the elevator.

As a county health department within the Florida Department of Health, the Department of Health in Collier County is a dynamic department that provides public health programs and services focused on preventing communicable, infectious, and chronic diseases as we work to promote and protect the health of our community. Blue Zones Project helped the department expand upon and improve existing well-being initiatives. The department worked diligently with vendors to provide healthier options in vending machines, formalized a breast-feeding policy for workers, and set up a worksite wellness committee to facilitate ongoing well-being practices. DOH staff members are also encouraged to take two 15-minute walking breaks each day. Some employees have formed Walking Moais® or social walking groups, to encourage natural movement within the work day.

Florida SouthWestern State College is Southwest Florida’s largest and one of the most affordable institutions of higher education. Annually serving nearly 22,000 students globally, FSW offers a variety of nationally-ranked, career-focused academic programs with two- and four-year degrees, and professional certifications. To become recognized, the school offered healthy snacks at events and fundraisers, planted a community garden and are a tobacco free campus. They got their students actively involved in planning a Random Acts of Kindness volunteer day and offered student yoga classes and group soccer well-being events.

We over 900 residences surrounding the crown jewel of our community, the beautiful 27-hole Arthur Hill-designed golf course. Our men’s and women’s golf associations have high participation and offer friendly competition and a chance to make new friends. Golf instruction and clinics are available from our trained professionals to golfers of all levels. But golf isn’t our only sport. We also have a very active Tennis Club. Our Clubhouse is the center of Foxfire social life. The Grille and Main Dining rooms offer varied menus where our residents come together for lunch, dinner or drinks. A wide variety of special events and performances, as well as recurring activities like Trivia, Bingo and Karaoke provide endless entertainment. Many members participate in our various clubs, including Bridge, Book Discussion Group, Mah Jongg and Travel. The Foxfire Community is welcoming a terrific staff of dedicated professionals. They are supported by our Board of Directors and resident committees who work to assure Foxfire remains a vibrant and financially stable community.

To become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ worksite, Guadalupe Center began hosting walking meetings to encourage their employees to move more during the day, added an Edible Garden, which allows employees to connect with nature and relieve stress, as well as to encourage healthy eating choices with the organically grown fruits and vegetables. In addition, staff members are invited to attend yoga classes on Wednesday afternoons.

With over 10,000 graduates having a 93 percent rate of continued success in careers, Hodges is recognized for developing programs that are uniquely designed and delivered to serve a diverse adult learner population. "When we officially became Blue Zones approved, we had a plant-based cooking demonstration for our faculty and staff. The food was delicious, easy to prepare, and the recipe was in high demand. We also gave everyone a plant with a "Healthy Hodges" label to put in their offices. It's a good reminder to keep up the good work we've started."

The Immokalee Technical College opened in January 2009. The college is located in the center of the Immokalee Community and consists of three buildings. Building one houses administration, student services, literacy programs, cosmetology, business and information technology and health sciences; building two houses culinary arts including our own iTown Café and conference center which seats up to 300 people; building three houses early childhood education and our industrial and engineering programs. The college is over 190,000 square feet and accommodates over 21 different programs of study. The goal of the school is to provide technical skills leading directly to employment.
