Rock of Refuge Church, founded and led by Pastor Israel Caraza and his wife Ana, is a church of about 30 regular congregants which meets in the Sabal Palms Elementary School cafeteria, in Golden Gate Estates. The congregation is a mix of ages, mostly middle aged, with a few seniors, a few children and a few high school students. “When we first heard about the Blue Zones Project as something Rock of Refuge could get involved with, we thought it was a good idea," stated Pastor Israel. "Spiritually, it makes a lot of sense to me. If we eat right and exercise, we’ll feel better and we’ll be able to worship God better. Our bodies are the temples of the Holy God, as it says in the Scriptures. If we don’t feel good, this will affect our relationship with God."

To become a Blue Zones Project recognized organization, Rotary Club of Immokalee started offering a plant-based meal option at their luncheon meetings, began stocking 9-inch plates and offering to-go containers to encourage small portion sizes. They also encourage their members to participate in community volunteer activities.

Sage Events is a Gluten Free Kitchen, Catering, & Meal Delivery service providing clean and healthy meals to subscribers in both Collier & Lee County. We offer plant based options for our clients and also offer plant based options for our catering events. We promote the use of organics as well as local farms. We only use clean oils such as olive and coconut oil and never any processed oils. Sage Events & Sage Kitchen promotes better choices in meal options and snacks
